MASHHAD, Iran - AhlulBayt News Agency - A collection of studying sources with the subject of the Persian Gulf is preserved in Astan Quds Razavi Specialized Geography Library.
Director of Astan Quds Razavi Specialized Geography Library said, “These valuable sources include atlases, maps, and printed books in which the term ‘Persian Gulf’ is evidently visible.”
Introducing the Persian Gulf atlas as a precious informative source of the library, Fatemeh Fakhri said, “This atlas deals in Persian and English languages with such issues as the history of the Persian Gulf, trading in the Persian Gulf, harbors, islands, and neighboring countries of the Persian Gulf.”
“The atlases of ‘Iranian Special Maps in 1477-1925’ in English, ‘History of Islam’, ‘Shi’a’, ‘Description of Iran and its Regions in several Maps of Islamic Period’, and ‘A Selection of Articles and News of Significant Newspapers about Persian Gulf (1874-1941)’ are other precious sources of the library”, she continued.
“Makran Seashores, a Gate to the Oceans’, ‘School Book of Describing Persian Gulf in Historical Maps’, ‘Persian Gulf in Iranian View’, ‘Geography of Iranian Islands of Persian Gulf’, ‘Name of Persian Gulf over History’, ‘Changes of Boundaries and its Geopolitical Role in the Persian Gulf’, and ‘Name of Persian Gulf according to the Historical Documents and Geographical Maps’ are among the printed books that narrate the political, economic, and social issues of the Persian Gulf as well as its history”, Fakhri remarked.
Pointing to the national day of Persian Gulf, she added, “The Persian Gulf has been named the Persian Gulf and Sea in all Arabian historical and geographical texts and the sources available in the Specialized Geography Library and especially its historical maps prove the attachment of this gulf to Iran over history.”
“Currently, 3143 printed books, 2876 maps, 575 theses, 273 atlases, and 278 CDs with the geographical subjects are available to the audiences of the library”, said Director of Astan Quds Razavi Specialized Geography Library.
It is notable that the Specialized Geography Library of Astan Quds Razavi located at the Holy Shrine, Sheikh Tousi sanctuary, Central Library, floor 1 is open from 7:15 to 13:30 on Saturdays to Wednesdays and from 7:15 to 12:30 on Thursdays (except for official holidays).
